My Deepest Darkest Secret

dark secret
Can’t believe I’m going to share this with you.

I’m going to have to interrupt your newsfeed full of rainbows and unicorns to tell you something real.

Even though I’d rather just hide it away, screwed up in a ball deep down inside.

Here goes…

I’ve been a failure for 10 years.

There. I said it.

It’s true though.

Despite the perfect camera angles, smiles and odd motivational meme.

I’ve not been myself.

I’ve not been all I can be.

I’ve not put myself out there the way I should.

I’ve not grown my business the way I could.

The reason…fear.

Fear of rejection

Fear of humiliation

Fear of being so different to other people that the hatred comes flooding back.

It’s been easier to keep my head down, hide away and shut myself off from the rest of the world.

Far easier than standing up, sticking out,

We’re told to be modest.

I didn’t get that memo.

So I was just me instead.

A LOT of people didn’t like it and made sure that the message would sink in.

Never did anything to anyone yet a whole lot of people had a problem with me.

Even the people I thought were my friends turn on me out of nowhere.

Every. Single. Time.

Suddenly, it’s me against the world.

So I allowed myself to become the thing I hate the most.

Mediocre.

Mediocrity is fine for some people.

To me, it’s for people who can’t do better or won’t do better.

I do not fall into either of those categories.

I refuse to.

Can’t put it any more simply than the British Army:

“Be The Best”

End off.

Even still. I failed.

I created my own prison, locked away from the world.

Didn’t trust people.

Didn’t socialise with people.

Wasn’t the friend I should have been to those who deserved it because friendship became simply a foreign concept.

I became the living dead.

Luckily, the fire deep inside never died.

It flickered and sputtered, trying to force itself to come back to life every now and then.

I’d feed it and then let it die.

Because, when I looked into those growing flames.

I saw my very fears come to life.

One step forward. Three steps back.

Over and over again.

Relentless pursuit from the very thing I turned tail and ran from.

Pretty crazy if you ask me but it is what it is.

That is the past.

It’s over.

An old identity crafted to protect me whilst silently killing me from the inside.

I say NO MORE.

No more running from greatness.

No more hiding away from the world.

No more fear of connecting with others.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.

I’m not going back to that mental prison alive.

If you love mediocrity and hate successful people, you’re in the wrong place.

I’m going to places you won’t be able to handle.

If you’re thinking “Who the hell is she to talk this way?”

You’re probably just wishing you could do the same.

It’s true, isn’t it?

Guess what. You can!

It just takes some guts.

Whatever amount of success comes my way, 2016 will be my greatest success.

Why?

Because whatever comes my way comes down to this.

The decision to escape the prison.

The guts to go out there and face the potential abuse.

The grit and determination to keep pushing even when every fiber of my being is urging me to turn back.

I don’t need your adoration.

I don’t need your sympathy.

I don’t need your doubts.

All I need is to be surrounded by gutsy people with a shared disdain for mediocrity.

If that’s you, holler up in the comments by saying “I’m IN!”

You’re A Sheep & You Don’t Even Know It

be yourself quote sheep

I see stuff like this all the time in the entrepreneurial world ^^^

Talk of everyone else being sheep.

How the system is rigged.

How they are aware and unplugged.

How society want’s you to follow a certain path.

Newsflash: you aren’t important.

Society doesn’t care about you.

Society doesn’t want you to take a certain action.

Society just is.

It moves and adapts with the times and some people make it their business to master the game they play.

You see people talking about sheep as though they aren’t themselves.

You’re just a sheep who’s joined a different herd…and that’s ok.

Everyone’s looking to plug into something.

Everyone’s looking to be lead.

The greatest leaders have advisors they trust.

They don’t try and do it alone.

Be smart.

Find your herd and the leaders who know how to play the game you’re playing.

Don’t bleat about other people being sheep.

Thoughts?

Forget Perfect!

perfect

^^^ What a mopey  meme!

Whoever thought up the idea that there’s one perfect person in the whole entire world is an idiot.

So is the guy who decided on there being a perfect time to make big changes or pretty much any version of perfect you can think of.

Everyones waiting for that perfect thing to land in their lap.

Love at first sight.

A relationship without arguments.

Everything being just right to have a baby…and then actually having that baby before it falls into disarray.

A perfect job with a great compensation package and a wonderful boss.

A business that lights you up each and every day from now until the end of time.

Sorry to burst your bubble but perfect doesn’t happen.

Life is full of ups and downs that you have to get through.

Even if things are pretty much perfect they won’t be that way all the time.

What matters is about taking what you have and making the most out of it.

Working on things to ensure they are the best they can be.

Taking that leap even though things aren’t spot on because they may never be perfect and lifes opportunities will pass you by if you wait.

Life is a movie you get to write the script for.

The only problem is, there’s 7 billion other people out there writing the script at the same time.

The good news is, you control you.

You’re responsible for your actions and reactions.

You can’t wait for those other scriptwiters to create a perfect environment for your bext big step.

All you can do is keep on writing your own story whatever comes your way.

Keep going.

Stop Fooling Yourself About What Matters

footiewedding

Just came across this ^^^ and it got me laughing…

I don’t think there are many men brave enough to go to the footy instead of their wedding – at least not without some witness protection style thing in police for afterwards.

Let’s face it, if a woman is blown off for the football on her wedding day, she would be out for blood.

Just because you don’t do something quite so suicidal, doesn’t mean you have you’re priorities in order.

we let things get in the way of the things we say we want.

Our priorities aren’t the things we say.

They are the things we do.

The things we make the time for.

The things we find the money for.

The things that we bust through excuses to make happen.

You say you want the body, the business, the life you always dreamed of.

Are you doing all you can to make that happen?

Are you putting yourself out there?

Are you getting things done?

Are you making opportunities?

Look, I’m not coming at you with this from some high and mighty position.

I too haven’t done all I can to get all I want.

I’ve had a lot of head crap to break through and there’s still more to conquer.

None of us are perfect.

We just do our best and keep moving forward.

Now, it’s Friday today.

A day that means different things for different people.

Make sure your day reflects your priorities.

That isn’t a call to hustle.

Hustling away might not be your priority.

Maybe it’s taking some time for yourself or your relationships etc.

Whatever matters most to you…go do that.

The world owes you nothing.

Nobody is going to hand you your dream life on a plate.
It takes work. It won’t be easy.
You will make mistakes.
Pretty much everyone does.
If you keep delivering value, you will get there in the end.
That’s what it’s all about.
Trading value with others.
You will trade value for attention and opportunities.
You will trade value for relationships.
You will trade value for good feelings.
You will trade value for money.
We’re human. It’s what we do.
It’s how we build tribes and societies.
So, what value will you be trading today?
